To Whom It May Concern:
I was greatly dismayed to learn about the slavery tainting your chocolate products. I was further dismayed and angered by the chocolate industry's failure to eliminate that slavery as it pledged to do in the Harkin-Engel Protocol. Subsequent statements by your representatives give me little reason to believe that your company is serious about cleaning up its act.
In light of these failures, I am now boycotting your products. I will not buy them, and I will urge friends, family, and acquaintances to quit buying them as well. We are not interested in helping you profit from slavery, and will buy fair trade and other ethically produced chocolates instead.
This boycott will only end when you quit exploiting abused laborers, or at the very least begin buying a significant percentage of your cocoa from fair trade sources. Until then, your products are a luxury I can easily do without.
Sincerely,
