Currently I am associate professor at the University of Zaragoza. During 2014 and 2015 I was working as a Computer Vision Scientist/Lead Engineer at Conversant (previously SET), San Francisco, USA. During 2013 and 2014 I was visiting the Computer Vision Laboratory at UCSD, as visiting assistant professor, collaborating with Prof. Serge Belongie and Prof. David Kriegman.

I obtained my Ms. and PhD in Computer Science at the University of Zaragoza, in Spain, supervised by Prof. Carlos Sagüés and Prof. Josechu Guerrero. My PhD thesis is entitled Visual Localization for Robotics: metric, topological and higher abstraction levels. Part of my PhD research was performed during collaborations with Prof. Tinne Tuytelaars and Prof. Luc Van Gool at VISICS and BIWI laboratories, and with Prof. Jana Kosecka.

My research is on the fields of computer vision, machine learning and robotics. My current research topics include visual recognition and scene understanding for robotics and other embedded systems, such as smartphones. I’m also interested in analysis and scene understanding from social media images (for more up to date, visit scholar profile).
